What's the cause of lumbar flexion and thoracic rounding during the up phase of the front squat? Weak abs?

Frequently this forward flexion is caused by an inability to maintain the intrathoracic pressure within the torso--no Vasalva effect. This can be caused by a lack of muscle mass to help cushion the bend, and a lack of development in the rhomboids that keep the scapulae from moving forward and hence causing the elbows to drop. This puts the bar in a position that forces the torso to bend forward.
